Can I request a time for the inspection?: The Administrative Assistant will schedule a time request, but will also advise the contractor that the inspection may not be at that exact time due to being delayed on the inspections before his or hers time request.

1. What is needed if the Utility Billing Office requires a city inspection to turn electric service on?: Contact the City of Miami Inspection Department in the Community Development Office by calling (918) 542-6685 for an appointment for a walk-thru inspection. Once it has been approved and all the deposits and fees have been paid, the Inspector will notify the Customer Service Center to issue the work order.

2. What is needed if Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) Company requires a city inspection to get your gas turned on?: You will need to get a plumber to put a pressure gauge on your gas line. The plumber will need to get a permit and call for the inspection. If the inspection passes, then the City of Miami Inspector will release it to ONG. You will need to call ONG for service by calling 1 (800) 664-5463.

3. When is an inspection required?: Most of the permits issued by the City of Miami require inspection. The type of permit issued determines the type of inspection needed. The permit clerk issuing the permit will instruct you to call for inspections if one is required.

4. How do I schedule an inspection?: Call The City of Miami Community Development at (918) 541-2252. You will need the address and your permit number. We will schedule the inspection Mon - Fri 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

5. When will the inspector come?: The City of Miami’s Ordinance allows within 48 hours. Generally, the inspector will inspect the job the same day called.

7. Where is the Building Inspection Department?: The Building Inspection Department is located in the Community Development office at the Civic Center, 129 5th NW, Miami, OK 74354.

8. What are the hours for the Building Inspection Department?: The hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

What is the cost for inspections?: Building inspections: Residential: Building – Footing, Rebar…….$50.00 Building – Framing……………..$50.00 Final Inspection…………………..$75.00 Commercial: Building – Footing, Rebar……..$50.00 Building – Framing……………….$50.00 Final Inspection……………………$125.00 State Fee…………………………………………………..$4.00 Electrical, Plumbing & Heating/Air Inspections: The first inspection is taken care of with the permit ($50.00 plus $4.00 state fee), each additional inspection is $50.00. The final inspection is $75.00 for Residential and $125.00 for Commercial.

10. Will the City of Miami bill me for my license?: The City of Miami requires you to pay for your license before being issued the license. The Community Development Office will send a renewal letter each June due by July 1st. The license will be active for 1 year.

11. Will my license be prorated if I apply for it after July 1st?: The City of Miami does not prorate licenses.
