Outdoor burning is discouraged today. The dry, windy conditions that will be present over most of the state will allow for any fire that starts to easily escape control. Strong and gusty northwest winds will move into the region behind a cold frontal passage today. Wind gusts in the 25 to 35 mph range will be common. The gusty winds will combine with decreasing moisture to create the potential for rapid fire spread and an overall increase in the fire danger. The worst conditions will likely be along and north of the Interstate 44 corridor.
