[ARCHIVED] COLEMAN THEATRE FEATURES SILENT MOVIE “THE MERRY WIDOW”

A great success when it premiered in 1925, the silent film version of The Merry Widow stars former Ziegfeld dancer Mae Murray as the American who wins the love of the Princes Danilo and Mirko. When Prince Danilo proposes, the King and Queen refuse to accept a commoner into the family and the characters plummet into tragedy before love can run its true course.

The silent movie will feature New York native Dennis James, the Coleman Theatre’s House Organist. Until now, no recorded musical score existed for The Merry Widow. For more than 45 years, James has played a pivotal role in the international revival of silent films with live music.

Ticket prices are $16 for adults, $13 for seniors, and $10 for children 12 and under. A $1 preservation fee will added to each ticket. In addition, a $1 handling fee will be added to phone orders. For more information call the Coleman Theatre at 918-540-2425 or visit the box office at 103 North Main in Miami. MasterCard, Visa, and Discover are accepted.
