Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Ottawa County Department of Human Services, and Miami Fraternal Order Of Police have joined forces to spread holiday cheer through the Angel Tree program. Recipients are individually screened to verify need, and more than 1200 children have been approved. You can help by selecting an Angel and buying them new toys and clothes to go under their Christmas tree this year.
The Angel Tree is located inside the Walmart Supercenter at 2415 N. Main St. in Miami. It is decorated with red and green paper tags with a number, age and gender of a child, and their clothes size. Select an Angel, purchase appropriate gifts, and return the tag with the unwrapped gifts to Walmart Supercenter or Miami Police Department by December 15. Gifts will be distributed December 22 and 23.
If you want to give but don’t want to shop, tax deductible monetary donations can be mailed to: NEO Development Foundation, 200 I St. NE, Miami OK 74354. You are also welcome to stop by the Foundation Office, located on the second floor of the Library in the Administration Building.
If your organization, church, business or club would like to adopt a group of Angels, contact the Department of Human Services at (918) 541-2400 or Detective Mark Byfield at (918) 542-6685.
