The City of Miami will host an informational meeting open to the public to address questions and concerns about the Railroad Safety Improvement Project.
The City has the option to participate in a grant available through the state to fully fund three railroad crossing improvements, including new lights and gates. To receive the grant, the City must close one crossing. The idea is to improve public safety by having fewer crossings while making necessary crossings safer. The proposed crossing improvements are at 1st Ave NE, 3rd Ave. NE, E. B.J. Tunnell/9th Ave. NE, and N. Elm St. The proposed crossing to be closed is at 2nd Ave. SE.
The informational meeting will be in the Civic Center Banquet Room, 129 5th Ave. NW, on Monday, December 8th, 2014, at 6 p.m. City Engineers, Public Works, Police and Fire, and Emergency Management, along with representatives from EMS and Miami Public Schools will explain the project in detail and address questions and concerns from the citizens of Miami.
