Stormwater
Overview
This Division was created to comply with the regulations created in 1999 by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandating cities with less than 100,000 populations to require a Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) within the City of Miami. Our permitting authority is the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ).
The goal of the SWMP is to support the protection of fish, wildlife, and recreation in and on our waterbodies. This Division works to reduce the amount of pollution that travels with rain and snow melt to the Neosho River. Stormwater does NOT get treated by the Wastewater Treatment Plant prior to entering the river.
